EnCompass Academy

Past Project 4

AMF supported the work of local Principal of Encompass Academy who challenged her students to read a million words a class by the end of the year. The students in turn stated to their Principal: We will read a million words if you “DYE IT PINK!!” The children were referring to her jet black hair. Ms. Tram Nguyen met this challenge and the kids read 23 million words by the end of the year. AMF assisted in the documenting of this process. We created a video for her school which was later shared with the Oakland Unified School District in their attempt to highlight the work of students at Encompass Academy and to successfully save their school from merger.
